China' s maritime authorities have monitored 23 ships from Mexico and the U.S. up till May 5 and asked the local inspection and quarantine departments to inspect them, preventing A (H1N1) spreading to China by ship.
Deployed by the MOT A (H1N1) Prevention Leading Group, Chinese maritime authorities intensify supervision over ships from Mexico and the U.S., requiring them to exchange ballast water beyond China's territorial sea and report the crew's health status to the local inspection and quarantine department. Meanwhile, Shenzhen MSA has delimited a temporary anchorage for inspection when necessary.
