Xu Zuyuan, honorary director of Cross-Straits Shipping Exchange Association, met with Ye Kuangshi, honorary president of Taiwan Straits Shipping Association in Tianjin on June 21. They had extensive communications and reached consensus on shipping cooperation across the Straits.

Xu extended his welcome to Ye on behalf of Cross-Straits Shipping Exchange Association, and reviewed the achievements in cross-straits shipping cooperation between the mainland and Taiwan since his visit to Taiwan last year. He pointed out that the direct cross-Straits shipping has not only brought new opportunities of cooperation for shipping enterprises on both sides, but also played a positive role in helping shipping enterprises cope with the global financial crisis. In the post crisis period, shipping enterprises in both mainland and Taiwan should seize opportunities to strengthen cooperation in an all-round way and stride into the world together.

Ye responded to Xu positively and expressed his willingness to conduct cross-Straits port and shipping cooperation. He said it is crucial for future development of shipping enterprises on both sides to walk on global market together.

Besides, they exchanged views on cruise economy and port cooperation. Both sides agreed that the achievements in cross-straits direct shipping should be reviewed in a proper manner on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of cross-straits direct shipping.
