  • Maritime Day of China 2014: Great Maritime, New Silk Road

Today China celebrates its National Maritime Day in Rizhao, Shandong. The theme for this year’s maritime day is “Great Maritime, New Silk Road”.

Except for the China Maritime Forum, there are three panel discussions- Forum on 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Forum on Seafarers and Service and Forum on China Pilot Development.

The committee makes the first announcement on China National Maritime Day to the public. Many cities engage in a great variety of activities including museum exhibition, marine knowledge contest, summer camp and so on.

In China, 11 of July became an official Maritime Day in 2005 which is devoted to the memory of Zheng He’s first long-distance voyage. The date also implements the World Maritime Day in China.

China National Maritime Day has been held annually in Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Taicang of Jiangsu Province, Dalian, Quanzhou of Fujian Province, Zhoushan, Nanjing and Nantong over the past nine years. In 2015, the event will be held in Ningbo of Zhejiang Province.
