  • The Guidelines for Port State Control of Amendments to the Energy Efficiency for Ships Got Compliment from Tokyo MoU Secretariat

    Recently, Tokyo MoU Secretariat sent a letter to Maritime Safety Administration of People’s Republic of China to compliment the Guidelines for Port State Control of Amendments to the Energy Efficiency for Ships submitted by China and to express their support for the follow-up work to push it to become a single standard, implementing in maritime industry of Asian-Pacific region, even the whole world. This Guideline is delegated to Zhejiang MSA by China MSA and the MARPOL and CIC Port State Control research team will be in charge of the technical research and drafting the documents.

    The Secretariat thanked China MSA for all the work about the Guideline and hoped the Guideline could be implemented in Asian-Pacific region after amending. The Secretariat will submit this proposal to MEPC of IMO depending on the circumstances to promote it becoming a global technical standard. Moreover, the Secretariat pointed out the working direction by putting forward some specific suggestions about feedback, drafting the final version, proposing to IMO and so on.

    Tokyo MoU passed the Guidelines for Port State Control of Amendments to the Energy Efficiency for Ships on the 25th convention in principle in 2014. In January 2015, Tokyo MoU convened the member states establishing a subject working team and launched the Guideline Amendment. According to the work plan, the MARPOL and CIC Port State Control research team of Zhejiang MSA will take charge of the amendment and contribute to making this Guideline the first China-leading PSC Inspection Guideline and finally take effect in Tokyo MoU, even IMO.
