  • CCS Issued the World’s First Specification for LNG Bunkering Ship

    On July 27, China Classification Society (CCS) held a reviewing meeting for the Specification of LNG Bunkering Ship (hereinafter referred to as the Specification )at Wuhan. It is reported that the Specification will be officially issued in this September and will become the first specification for LNG bunkering ship in the world.

    It is known that compiling this Specification is the latest measure to meeting the demand for developing green and clean shipping industry, and it is also the implementation of Guiding Opinions about Promoting the Application of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Waterborne Industry by the Ministry of Transport. The Specification mainly covers technical requirements concerning ship’s classification and arrangement, cargo containment system, fuelling system, power system, safety system, electrical equipment and fire protection, etc.

    The Specification includes following main features: LNG bunkering ships that apply CCS can be offered additional type notation of“LNG Bunkering Ship”; the impacts exerted on fuelling system and other equipment by the relative movements between the bunkering ship and the fuelled ship have been considered; the sloshing problem caused by different liquid level in storage tank has been taken into consideration; bunkering ships’ versatility also has been taken into account.
