On June 4, 2018, Maritime Safety Administration of the People’s Republic of China signed the MOU on the Establishment of a Global e-Navigation Test Bed in the Republic of Korea, which marked China’s involvement in the Establishment of a Global e-Navigation Test Bed. Currently, Australia, Denmark, Sweden and South Korea have participated in this cooperation program.

e-Navigation is an International Maritime Organization (IMO) led concept based on the harmonisation of marine navigation systems and supporting shore services driven by user needs. e-Navigation is currently defined as:

“e-Navigation is the harmonised collection, integration, exchange, presentation and analysis of maritime information onboard and ashore by electronic means to enhance berth to berth navigation and related services, for safety and security at sea and protection of the marine environment”.

e-Navigation concept receives high attention from maritime industries at home and abroad. China has established the Global e-Navigation Test Bed in the Changjiang Estuary, the Pearl River Estuary, Yangshan Port and Tianjin Port.
