According to the foreign affairs schedule of Ministry of Transport of the People’s republic of China, during the 2024 Beiwaitan International Shipping Forum, Xu Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Maritime Safety Administration of the People’s republic of China, met with Matthew, President of Bureau Veritas and his delegation on October 23rd.
Matthew expressed his gratitude to the Chinese maritime authorities for their strong support for the development of Bureau Veritas' business in China. He introduced the status of Bureau Veritas' operations in China and its research efforts in ship safety, technological transformation and clean energy applications. He also stated that Bureau Veritas would continue to uphold the concept of serving the Chinese shipbuilding and shipping industries, continuously improve its ability and level of service to the industry and actively promote the safe and green development of the shipping industry.
Xu Wei welcomed Matthew and his delegation. He pointed out that the Chinese maritime authorities attached great importance to communications and cooperation with accredited organizations, including Bureau Veritas. He commended Bureau Veritas for its efforts in shipping emission reduction, digitization and intelligence. He also expressed his hope that both sides would further strengthen exchanges and cooperation based on previous good communication,which made greater contributions to shipping safety and green development.
