  • Expanding the Cooperation and Serving the Shipping Development-China MSA and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Held the Video Meeting

    On the afternoon of Aug.3,2021, Cao Desheng, Director General, China Maritime Safety Administration (MSA)and Ms Quah Ley Hoon, Chief Executive, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore(MPA)held the video meeting.

    The two parties informed each other about the development of epidemic prevention and control in the maritime field, and shared their experience and practices on ensuring crew changes, rescue of injured and sick crew members, vaccination, serving shipping development, and ensuring the stability of maritime logistics supply chains. They expressed their gratitude for support and assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cao Desheng also briefed Singapore on the status of the issuance and construction of seafarers’epidemic prevention certificates.

    The two parties reviewed the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding to Promote the Use of Electronic Certificates Between China and Singapore, and fully affirmed the successful completion of the China-Singapore Electronic Certificate Application Pilot Project in Guangzhou Nansha Port and Singapore Port. Using maritime single windows can improve country-to-country connectivity.Both administrations have made good progress, developed a working model, and conducted successful trials. The two parties stated that they would strengthen communication and consultation, expand cooperation areas, actively promote the signing of the memorandum of cooperation on seafarers’electronic competency certificates, and strive to create a model for unblocked regional maritime logistics cooperation, promote the construction of new international land-sea trade channels, and ensure the global logistics supply chain stability to promote the continuous deepening of the all-round cooperative partnership between the two countries.
